W3 Professorship for Theoretical Solid-State Physics
W3 Professorship for Theoretical Solid-State Physics
Your Responsibilities
The successful candidate will represent the field of theoretical solid-state physics comprehensively. Regarding research, various priorities are conceivable. These explicitly include non-equilibrium physics, quantum transport, topological systems, low-dimensional quantum systems, many-body systems (strong correlations, methodology development), and computational physics. The aim here is a thematic, integrative expansion of the focus areas already established in Braunschweig in theoretical and experimental solid-state physics.
The professorship is expected to represent the full breadth of theoretical physics in its teaching. Courses should be offered in both German and English. In addition to scientific excellence, the professorship is expected to play a leading role in future collaborative projects within Faculty 5 of TU Braunschweig. Furthermore, participation in activities within the currently ongoing Cluster of Excellence QuantumFrontiers is desired.
The successful candidate (f/m/d) is expected to be committed to the university's strategic goals and to actively shape its holistic development. In addition to the classic service areas of a university (research, teaching and studies, transfer, governance and administration), this applies in particular to digitalisation, internationalisation, equality and diversity, as well as knowledge exchange.

- Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary cooperation
- Commitment to increasing the internationalisation and international visibility of Technische Universität Braunschweig
- Commitment to diversity and equality
International research and teaching experience, excellent command of the English language, as well as the ability and willingness to teach courses in English are expected. - Pedagogical aptitude
- Special qualification for in-depth independent scientific work, as a rule proven by an above-average doctorate
- Additional academic achievements, usually within the framework of a junior professorship, a post-doctoral degree (Habilitation) or through achievements equivalent to a Habilitation

We particularly invite applications from international candidates (f/m/d). German language skills are not a prerequisite. However, the successful candidate is expected to acquire sufficient language skills to perform teaching and administrative duties in German within one year of appointment.
Even though this is a permanent full-time position, a part-time appointment may be possible upon request.
