Job Description
We are seeking a scholar with an international reputation in the field of psychotherapy research. A particular focus of the professorship shall be on researching the effectiveness and processes of various established psychotherapeutic practices (e.g., orientations, methods). Applicants are expected to actively participate in professional networks and help shape the future of psychotherapeutic practice based on their own research findings.
In teaching, the professorship is to represent the field of clinical psychology and psychotherapy in its entirety, encompassing both the Bachelor's program in Psychology and the Master's program in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy. A central responsibility also includes the cooperative management of the university outpatient clinic. In this regard, the University of Kassel places great emphasis on the professorship promoting diversity and the integration of various psychotherapeutic orientations.
Participation in academic self-governance is part of the duties of the position.
Employment Requirements
The employment requirements and performance standards set forth in Sections 67 and 68 of the Hessian Higher Education Act (HessHG) apply.
- A doctoral degree in psychology and relevant additional academic achievements (e.g., a habilitation) are required
- At the time of application, candidates must hold a license in psychotherapy that is (equivalently) recognized for Germany
- Specialized expertise in psychodynamic/-analytic psychotherapy as well as proof of successful collaboration with practitioners of other recognized psychotherapeutic orientations and/or of continuing education and training in other recognized psychotherapeutic orientations is required
- Extensive clinical experience (e.g., therapy, supervision) is desirable
- Applicants must demonstrate their expertise in empirical psychotherapy research through relevant publications in peer-reviewed international journals
- Research must be aligned with the research priorities of the clinical and non-clinical departments of the Institute of Psychology and the Department of Human Sciences
- Experience in successfully securing competitive external funding is required
- Evidence of teaching expertise and a strong commitment to teaching are required
