Description
The professorship is to be filled for the winter term 2027/2028 in the Department Civil and Supply Engineering + Food Technology at the Main Campus in Trier.
Tasks
- Teaching in the bachelor's and master's degree programmes in civil engineering, covering the fields of geotechnics, earthworks, road construction, as well as soil engineering
- Development and delivery of elective modules with an individual academic focus within the advertised field
- Teaching foundational subjects
- Applied research in the specified fields
- Management of the geotechnical engineering laboratory
- Courses are to be offered in German and if required also in English
- Active participation in the university's academic self-governance
- Dedicated collaboration within the department team

Recruitment Requirements
For this professorship, we are looking for a committed person, who has gained extensive practical experience in geotechnical engineering after completing a university degree in civil engineering (first degree) and who is academically qualified in the advertised field through a doctoral degree. Knowledge in civil infrastructure (focus: road construction) is advantageous. German language skills (at least level C1) are required.
In addition to the general requirements under civil service law, the minimum requirements for appointment are:
- A successfully completed university degree in civil engineering
- Pedagogical skills, which are usually demonstrated by experience in teaching, training, or relevant further training in university teaching
- Special ability for academic work, usually demonstrated by a qualified doctorate
- Special achievements in the application or development of scientific findings and methods in at least five years of relevant professional practice, of which at least three years must have been spent outside the university sector
