About the University

Position Description
The professorship is to be filled for the winter term 2027 in the Department Engineering at the Main Campus in Trier.
Tasks
- Teaching in the fields of control engineering and measurement technology in the bachelor's and master's degree programs of the department of electrical and mechanical engineering
- Courses are to be offered in German and if required also in English
- Active participation in the university's academic self-governance
- Research activities, including industry collaborations
In addition to a strong commitment to teaching, active participation in the university's academic self-governance is expected. The state of Rhineland-Palatinate and Trier University of Applied Sciences support a supervision model that requires a high level of faculty presence at the university. Recruitment Requirements
For this professorship, we are looking for a committed person, who has gained extensive experience with control engineering tasks relevant to industry in a responsible position after completing a university degree in electrical engineering or physics, as well as related courses of study and would now like to pass its experience to our students in teaching and research. Applicants must have proven scientific competence and qualified practical experience in the fields of control engineering and industrial information technology. Further experience with artificial intelligence (AI) methods in the relevant fields is also desirable.
In addition to the general labour law requirements, the recruitment requirements include:
- A successfully completed university degree in the field of mechanical engineering or a related degree programme with a specialist focus on the above-mentioned requirements
- Pedagogical aptitude
- A special aptitude for scientific work, which is usually demonstrated by a qualified doctorate
- Special achievements in the application or further development of scientific knowledge and methods in at least five years of relevant professional practice, of which at least three years must have been spent outside the university sector
The appointment is made as a tenured civil servant if the relevant legal requirements are met.
