Die Bergische Universität Wuppertal ist eine dynamische, vernetzte, forschungsorientierte

In der Fakultät für Elektrotechnik, Informationstechnik und Medientechnik suchen wir im
Fach Medieninformatik eine ausgewiesene Pe rsönlichkeit, die dieses Gebiet in Forschung
und Lehre kontinuierlich weiterentwickelt .

AUFG ABEN UND ANFORDERUNGEN
Die Professur vertritt das Fach Medieninformatik in seiner vollen Breite in Forschung und
Lehre, insbesondere in mindestens einem der folge nden Themengebiete:
o Information Retrieval, Knowledge Engineering, Text and Language Processing
o Human -Computer Interaction, User -Centered System Design, Usability Engineering
o Mixed / Augmented / Virtual Reality
o Prinzipien, Methoden, Automatisierung und Werkzeuge zur Entwicklung interaktiver
Webanwendungen und webbasierter Mediensysteme
o Generative KI im Medienkontext

• Als international vernetzte*r Wissenschaftler*in sollen Sie Beiträge zur aktuellen
• internationalen Forschung aufweisen können. Die Bereitschaft und Fähigkeit zur
• Forschungskooperation innerhalb der Fakultät und an unserer Universität z. B. mit den
• Fakultäten für Naturwissenschaften, Geistes - und Kulturwissenschaften, Sozial - und
• Humanwissenschaften, Design und Kunst, der Sc hool of Education sowie mit führenden
• nationalen und internationalen Forschungsinstitutionen wird vorausgesetzt.
• Die Professur leistet Beiträge im Rahmen der Profillinien „Umwelt, Engineering und
• Sicherheit“ der Bergischen Universität sowie zur Stärkung d er übergreifenden
• Forschungsgebiete der Fakultät „Artifical Intelligence, Data and Media Engineering“,
• „Digital Transformation“ und „Mobility and Automotive“. Ihre Themen sind anschlussfähig
• zum interdisziplinären Forschungsansatz der Bergischen Universitä t in den
• Interdisziplinären Zentren „Machine Learning and Data Analytics (IZMD)“ oder „Mobility
• and Energy (IZME)“ sowie de n Aktivitätsfeldern der BUW „Next Generation Learning,
• Teaching, Knowledge Transfer“, „Shaping Sustainable Societal Transformation“ u nd „AI
• for Empowering the Future (AI4EF)“.
• In der Lehre ist die Professur in die Bachelor - und Masterstudiengänge der Fakultät
• insbesondere in der „Informatik“ und der „Medientechnologie/ -informatik“ eingebunden
• sowie in den Vertiefungsrichtungen der „Elektrotechnik“ und „Smart & Sustainable
• System s“. Modernen Lehrmethoden gegenüber sind Sie offen.
• Wir erwarten deutsche Sprachkenntnisse (Level B2) oder die Bereitschaft, diese
• spätestens innerhalb von zwei Jahren zu erlangen.
• Eine Mitarbeit in der akademischen Selbstverwaltung wird als selbstverständ lich erwartet.

• Abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium im Fach Elektrotechnik, Informationstechnik,
• Technische Informatik, Informatik oder einer verwandten Disziplin
• Besondere Befähigung zu wissenschaftlicher Arbeit, in der Regel nachgewiesen durc h

The position will be based in the School of Electrical, Information and Media Engineering .
We are looking for an outstanding personality who will continuously develop this area in
resea rch and teaching .

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS
The professorship covers the full scope of media informatics in research and teaching, with
a particular focus on at least one of the following topics:
o Information retrieval, knowledge engineering, text and language processing,
o Human -computer interaction, user -centred system design, usability engineering,
o Mixed / augmented / virtual reality,
o Principles, methods, automatization and tools for the development of interactive
web applications and web -based media s ystems,
o Generative AI in the context of media.

• As an internationally networked researcher, you should be able to contribute to current
• international research. The willingness and ability to cooperate in research within the
• faculty and at our university, e.g., the School of Humanities, the School of H uman and
• Social Sciences, the School of M athematics and Natural Sciences, The School of A rt and
• Design and the School of Education as well as with leading national and international
• research institutions is a p rerequisite.
• As part of the University of Wuppertal ’s ‘Environment, Engineering and Safety’ profile
• lines, the professorship contributes to strengthening the school’ s main research areas like
• “Artifical Intelligence, Data and Media Engineering ”, “Digital T ransformation ” and “Mobility
• and Automotive ”. Its topics are compatible with the interdisciplinary research approach of

• QUALIFICATION S
• Completed degree (master or equivalent from university or university of applied sciences)
• in electrical engineering, information technology, computer science s or a related
• discipline .
• Special aptitude for academic work, usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate, a
• topic relevant to the advertised position is desirable .
• Further relevant scientific achievements performed during a first professorship include
• junior prof essorships, habilitations, employment as a research assistant at a university or
• at a non -university research institution and scientific positions in business, in
• administration or another social field in Germany or abroad .
• Pedagogical aptitude, which is p roven by appropriate previous experience or,
• exceptionally, demonstrated in the appointment procedure .
