Scientific Position at the Department of Physical Chemistry

The Department of Physical Chemistry is seeking to fill the above-mentioned position as of November 1, 2026, as part of an externally funded project (subject to the funding being confirmed).

The Department of Physical Chemistry conducts research in the fields of catalysis, metal hydrides, and porous metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). The goal of the project is to develop new catalysts for ammonia oxidation. The position is part of a group for early-career researchers. Therefore, the degree of the person to be hired must have been earned within the last six years.

Tasks

  • Conducting research as part of a research project on the synthesis and investigation of new catalysts for the heterogeneous oxidation of ammonia.
  • Performing chemical syntheses of MOFs and MOF-ceramic hybrid systems.
  • Conducting accompanying measurements for material characterization (XRD, BET, TG-DSC, FTIR, PCI measurements, SEM/AFM, etc.)
  • Support in teaching (laboratory courses, exercises)
  • Coordinating activities with the other project partners
  • Preparation of publications, preparation of research reports

This position is suitable for a Ph.D. candidate.

Requirements

  • A university diploma or master's degree in chemistry, applied natural sciences, chemical or process engineering, physics, materials science, or a related field.
  • A high degree of initiative, self-organization, teamwork, and resilience
  • Enthusiasm for scientific work
  • Willingness to familiarize yourself with new topics
  • Good English (or German) language skills, both written and spoken
