About the Core Facility
The Core Facility (CF) Genomics & Bioinformatics is a scientific infrastructure of Faculty VI with a strong focus on service. The institution supports multiple research projects by providing reliable data collected in a timely manner. In addition, the Core Facility Genomics & Bioinformatics supports its users in project planning and in the analysis of large-scale genomic data. The Core Facility already operates modern high-throughput genome sequencing devices, which are to be adapted in line with technological developments and scientific progress, ensuring that an attractive portfolio of instruments and methods in the field of high-throughput sequencing and data analysis will continue to be available in the future.
Your Tasks
- Management of all devices available in the Core Facility Genomics & Bioinformatics (CFGB)
- Quality management, including the assurance, review, and improvement of processes
- Cost management, including the creation and maintenance of a service and price catalogue and the preparation of cost estimates
- Personnel management / leadership of the staff assigned to the CFGB
- Representation of the CFGB and participation in committees and boards as well as through presentations within and outside the University of Oldenburg
- Prospectively: further development of the CFGB, including coordination of the expansion of the instrument and method portfolio
Required Qualifications
- Completed Academic University Degree (e.g. Diploma (University) / Master's degree) in Biology and/or comparable fields
- Completed Doctoral Degree in Natural Sciences and/or comparable fields
- Several years of experience in performing high-throughput sequencing
- Multiple scientific publications in the field of high-throughput sequencing
- Experience in writing scientific publications and Grant applications
- Proven experience as a workgroup / laboratory Leader
- Strong communication skills in English (spoken and written)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bioinformatics expertise in secondary and tertiary analysis of large-scale sequencing data
- Experience with "3rd generation" sequencing technologies
- Experience in the establishment and validation of sequencing methods
- Experience in participating in national or international sequencing projects
- Project manager qualification according to §28 GenTSV for S1/S2 laboratories
