Academic Staff Member PhD Position ID no . 326/2026
The successful candidate will work 26 hours per week ( 65 %). The position is classified within remuneration group 13 of the collective wage agreement among the German states (TV -L). The fixed term of employment is in accordance with Section 2 subsection 1 of the German Act on Limited Scientific Contracts ( Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz or WissZeitVG).
Your Field of Work : Biomedical engineering, especially bioelectronics, has an increasing impact on society as it holds the key to solving global health challenges ahead of us. Utilising light is a central motif in our work, reaching from its application as a tool to process materials or as an instrument to modulate biological systems. We explore new approaches for fabricating complex device archite ctures to monitor biological processes, using lithographic 3D printing techniques, among other things . Join these interdisciplinary project funded by the BMBF Nanomatfutur program to achieve groundbreaking yet application -relevant innovation through the collaboration with polymer sci- entists as well as physicists, engineers, and biologists.
The Scope of Your Responsibilities :
- Using the tools of organic photochemistry , polymer and material science, the PhD students will develop novel photoresin formulation s to use as 3D -printing
- Characterizing the derived formulations/materials by a variety of analytical techniques to evaluate photocuring, mechanical properties , electric conductivity and biocompatibility
Further scientific qualification (doctorate thesis) is possible. At least one -third of working hours is available for in -depth scientific work.
Your Qualifications : • Completed academic studies at an institute of higher education , Master’s degree (or equiv- alent) in chemistry, material science or related disciplines
- Experience in organic and polymer ic materials chemistry regarding analytical methods
- A background or experience in 3D -printing, particularly stereolithography , and formulati ng photoresins is desirable
- A background or experience in organic (semi)conductors is desirable
- Team and communication skills to work in an interdisciplinary environment
- Very good written and spoken English skills
We are also looking for the foll owing competencies :
- Experience s in biomaterials, biochemistry or microbiology are of advantage but not neces- sary
- German language skills are of advantage but not necessary
