The Chair of Finance is offering a part-time position as
Student Assistant (m/f/d)
starting on 01.09.2026 or 01.10.2026 .

The Chair of Finance, headed by Prof. Dr. Erik
Theissen, conducts empirical research in the
area of financial markets, with a particular focus
on “Market Microstructure”, “Empirical Asset
Pricing” and “Blockchain Applications &
Cryptocurrencies”. The chair's research is
published regularly at international
conferences and in prestigious academic
journals (e.g. Review of Financial Studies,
Review of Finance, Journal of Banking &
Finance).

The Chair of Finance (Prof. Erik Theissen) at the University of Mannheim
Business School seeks Business Administration or Economics students
(preferably Master's) to support research, teaching, and administrative
activities starting September/October 2026 or later.
Your tasks include:
Working with financial databases (Datastream, WRDS, Morningstar,
Factiva)
Data management and analysis using statistical software
Assisting with the preparation of lecture notes and course material
Helping with literature search
Your profile:
Business Administration or Economics student (preferably master level)
(Very) good academic performance
Ability to work independently
High level of motivation and reliability
Good command of English
Proven experience in programming, including R (strongly preferred) or
Python is essential
High proficiency in MS-Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
Knowledge of DataStream, VBA etc. is advantageous
No minimum contract term; longer availability is advantageous
